The surrounding metropolitan area includes the towns of Fort Worth and Arlington, as well as more than 20,000 acres of grassy parkland. The lovely Fair Park is an excellent starting point for outdoor recreation, as is popular White Rock Lake. The Six Flags amusement park, Hurricane Harbor, lies in nearby Arlington, and the Dallas Zoo is the largest zoo in all of Texas. In this city fixated on hugeness, however, perhaps nothing is bigger than its portions and Dallas’ barbecue and Tex-Mex cuisines rank amongst the world’s finest.
